Lake Erie College’s first national champion has become the school’s first two-time national champion.
Senior high jumper Jamil Dudley added to his title collection by winning the NCAA Division II indoor high jump title on March 15 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Dudley cleared 7 feet, 1 inches on his first attempt. Texas A&M Kingsville’s Jeron Robinson also cleared 7-1, but Dudley won the title on fewer misses at the height.
Dudley earned a spot in LEC athletic lore by winning the high jump at the 2012 Division II outdoor championships. The Massillon native also finished second at the 2013 outdoor championships by clearing 7-3 to finish behind Robinson, who cleared 7-4 1/4. Dudley is now a seven-time All-American and will be one of the favorites to claim the outdoor title in his specialty in May.
