Benefit set for Gene Boerner

Credit: Todd Porter - Canton Repository for this story

Gene Boerner who just about everyone in Massillon knows has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Boerner has been instrumental to Massillon's football program and other sports during his lifetime.  He has helped raise money for various big-ticket items and has been a volunteer steward for the Massillon program for years.
On June 14th there will be a benefit to celebrate Boerner at the Firehouse Grille and Pub in Massillon.  Chris Spielman is donating items to be auctioned off, and there will be football signed by Urban Meyer to auction as well.
Tickets for the dinner and auction are $15 per person or $25 per couple.  They can be purchased at the Massillon Independent, Keller's Office Supply and the Chamber of Commerce.  Donations may be made at First Merit Bank as well. Or call 234-207-1588 for more information.
As typical with Gene, all proceeds will not benefit him in any way.  they will go to the Paul E. Brown Museum in Massillon.
